Yes or no tarot: what do you want to ask?

One question, one card. Kyra Ourania doesn’t give lectures, she gives answers.

Whatever people call you. Nicknames are fine here.

Ask something that can be answered with yes or no. Your question stays on your device.

Your name, topic and anything you write stay on your device. We don’t send them anywhere.

How does a yes or no tarot reading work?

In a yes or no tarot reading you ask one question and draw a single card. Most cards say yes when they come out upright, some say no, and a few, like the Hanged Man or the Hermit, say “maybe” or “not yet”. When a card comes out reversed, the answer usually gets weaker: yes turns into maybe, no turns into not yet.

Here it works the same way with a virtual deck, the 22 Major Arcana of the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot. You type your question, shuffle, cut and draw one card. Kyra Ourania tells you what came out and how she sees it. It’s for fun, not a prediction.

What should you ask a yes or no tarot reading?

Ask something specific that fits into a yes or a no: “will I get the job?”, “will they reply?”, “should I book the trip?”. Broad questions like “what will happen with my life?” need more cards, and the classic three-card spread is there for those. Ask one thing at a time and keep it in mind while you shuffle.

What happens when the card comes out reversed?

A reversed card usually weakens the answer. A yes becomes “yes, but not yet” or “maybe”, and a maybe leans towards no. A few cards work the other way: the Devil or the Tower reversed mean you’re escaping something, so the answer improves. Kyra Ourania tells you how she sees it each time.

Which cards say yes, no or maybe?

This is how each card answers when it comes out upright. Reversed, the answer usually gets weaker.

Yes

  • The Fool

The Fool says yes, with his head in the clouds. Go for it, just watch where you step.

  • The Magician

The Magician says yes, and it’s in your hands. Everything you need is already there, you just have to find it.

  • The Empress

The Empress says yes, with a full table. Whatever you’re asking about has a future and room to grow.

  • The Emperor

The Emperor says yes, signed and stamped. As long as you take it seriously.

  • The Hierophant

The Hierophant says yes, if you do it the proper way. Paperwork, rules and a bit of patience in the queue.

  • The Lovers

The Lovers say yes, and they mean it from the heart. If it’s a love question, even better.

  • The Chariot

The Chariot says yes, and fast. Start the engine and don’t look back.

  • Strength

Strength says yes. You can handle it and you’ll pull it off, without even raising your voice.

  • Wheel of Fortune

The Wheel of Fortune says yes. It’s turning your way, catch it while it does.

  • Death

Death says yes, but with a change. Something old has to end for what you’re asking to happen. No funeral in sight.

  • The Star

The Star says yes, with hope. Whatever you’re asking about has good light shining on it.

  • The Sun

The Sun says yes, clear and bright. One of the best yeses in the whole deck.

  • Judgement

Judgement says yes. You’re getting a second chance, don’t let it slip away.

  • The World

The World says yes, all wrapped up. Whatever you’re asking about ends well.

No

  • The Devil

The Devil says no. It pulls at you, I know, but it’s not good for you.

  • The Tower

The Tower says no, and says it loudly. Don’t build this on shaky foundations.

  • The Moon

The Moon says no, not yet. Things are murky, wait for the morning.

Maybe

  • The High Priestess

The High Priestess keeps her lips sealed. Maybe. You already know the answer, you just won’t admit it.

  • The Hermit

The Hermit says maybe, and goes for a walk to think about it. Give him a little time, and yourself too.

  • Justice

Justice says maybe. You’ll get exactly what you deserve, not a gram more.

  • The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man says maybe, not yet. He’s hanging upside down and waiting, so be a little patient too.

  • Temperance

Temperance says maybe, in moderation. It will happen slowly, like food on a low flame.

Is this the same as other yes or no tarot readings?
Yes, it’s the classic one-card spread with the standard Rider-Waite-Smith meanings. The difference is that here Kyra Ourania gives you the answer, her way.
What kind of questions can I ask?
Anything that can be answered with yes or no. “Will I get the job?” works. “What should I have for dinner?” needs a different deck, or a fridge.
What if I ask the same thing again?
For three hours, the same question with the same name gets the same card. The deck doesn’t change its mind just because you didn’t like the answer.
What does “Maybe” mean?
That the card won’t commit. It usually means “not yet” or “it depends on you”. Kyra Ourania says to ask again in a few days.
Do you keep my question?
No. Your question and your name stay on your device. We don’t send them anywhere.
