Got the evil eye? We’ll lift it on the house.
Oil, water and Kyra Ourania’s secret prayer. Online, no trip to your aunt’s village required.
Do you have the evil eye?
Pick whatever applies.
Kyra Ourania can diagnose you before she even opens the olive oil.
How a proper xematiasma works
Exactly how your Greek grandmother does it. Kyra Ourania follows the same steps, just through your screen.
On the house, until the till opens.
Grandma never took money, and for now neither do we. One day it will cost €1, the price of a koulouri.
What our un-jinxed customers would say
“Production used to go down every Friday. Since my xematiasma it goes down on Mondays. Progress.”
“Kyra Ourania yawned six times. I knew my sister-in-law was jealous.”
“Did it at a red light on Syngrou Avenue. By the next light the headache was gone.”
“My mum said it doesn’t work online. I got her one too. Now she says nothing.”
“I un-jinxed my boss as well. Same price, they said. No discrimination.”
Questions people ask us
Does it work over the internet?
Kyra Ourania says prayers don’t care about distance. She’s been lifting her nephew’s evil eye in Melbourne over the landline since 1994.
Why do you need my name, father’s name and date of birth?
The prayer is said with your first name, and Kyra Ourania insists on your father’s name too. The date is so she doesn’t mix up two people with the same name. We don’t store any of it: it stays on your device and disappears when you close the page.
Is Kyra Ourania real?
In here, she’s a very good-humoured program. We built Ftou Ftou for fun.
What does the Church say?
The Orthodox Church has its own prayer against the evil eye, read by a priest. We’re not priests, we’re a website having fun with a tradition.
How do I pay?
For now you don’t pay anything. Kyra Ourania is treating everyone until the till opens.
The headache won’t go away. What now?
See a doctor. Seriously. Xematiasma is tradition and fun, not treatment.
Ftou ftou, may no one jinx you again.
