Who is Kyra Ourania?
Kyra Ourania doesn’t exist. She is a fictional character, put together from what we remember of our grandmothers: the black headscarf, the glasses on a cord, the blue bead pinned to her cardigan and an opinion on everything. The testimonials on the home page are fictional too.
What does the site do?
Three things, all with your name and all on your screen:
- Evil eye removal with oil, water and a prayer, the way Greek grandmothers do it from a distance.
- Coffee cup reading: you drink a virtual Greek coffee and Kyra Ourania tells you what she sees in the cup.
- Tarot with three cards, plus yes or no, love tarot and the card of the day.
We also write guides to the customs: what xematiasma is, the prayer, vaskania, coffee cup symbols and tarot card meanings.
Is it real?
The customs are real, and the guides describe what tradition says, with sources at the end of each page. The readings, though, come out at random and are for fun. They are not predictions and not treatment. If you’ve felt unwell for days, see a doctor, not Kyra Ourania.
What happens to my details?
Your name, father’s name, date of birth and anything you write stay on your device, and we don’t send them anywhere. We count visits anonymously with Umami, on our own server, without cookies. The details are in the privacy policy and the terms of use.
